Habits That Might Be Affecting Your Riding.

Every person has their own habits that they can’t stop, but some habits might have a big affect on your riding. Take a look here to see if you’re doing any of these.

Some of the habits are little things that you do while you are not riding. These are like holding your baby on one hip and never the other or carrying your purse always on one shoulder.

Doing these can strain the one side of your body and leave the other side of your body fine. This is bad for riding as you might not be able to get in a good position, if you are having problems with the one side of your body.

If you really look at yourself and realise the imbalances you have, you could try to stop these and it will really help with your posture and your riding.

Some of the most common ones that people do are –

Carrying things on the one side of your body, this is normally your dominant side.

Slouching in your chair at work, home or anywhere else you sit down.

Leaning on your window ledge while you are driving.

Sitting with something bulky like a wallet in your back pocket.

Some of these things you would never think would affect you or your riding. But they are and they can cause serious injuries in the future if you don’t stop. You should try and stop doing them while you are just starting out to avoid injuries.

When you start to have an imbalance, it won’t be as comfy to sit on your horse and your horse might also be able to tell. If your horse does tell that you are imbalanced, this could make your horse imbalanced as they will be trying to be in line with you.
